RUI BARROS: “WE DIDN’T DESERVE TO LOSE”
Coach believes FC Porto did enough to get a different result in Famalicão (0-1)
According to Rui Barros, the end result of the match Famalicão-FC Porto, won by the home team, 1-0, didn’t show what happened in the full 90 minutes. The white and blue coach pointed out the wasted opportunities and the attacking football played by the Dragons, which was still not enough to prevent the defeat, for matchday two of the League Cup.
“We didn’t deserve to lose, but that’s football. We created goal situations and we played positive, attacking football, enough to get something else out of the match. Still, we couldn’t do it. A set piece ended up going in for them, and that made us lose composure and calm. I hope the future is brighter”, Rui Barros let out, after the match for Group A.
Despite the many changes to the starting team, the coach stated that the objective was to win. “We came up with a new team, with different players, and we wanted to offer more match time to some of them, with the clear goal to win. We’re more used to winning than losing or tying”, Rui Barros continued.
This Thursday’s training session will be led by José Peseiro, the new white and blue coach, and Rui Barros believes “good things” are coming. “Tomorrow, a new cycle begins and may it help FC Porto. I’m sure the future has good things on the horizon for the club”.
